WTF is going on?

I received an alert on the subject of "Jenkem", the alert said that this form of "huffing" was becoming more wide spread. It seems that this substance is made from "Human waste". I couldn't believe it and I thought it was a joke. I am still not sure that it's true. Any input is appreciated.

Jenkem or jekem is an inhaled gas which can result in dissociation and hallucinations. It is made from fermented sewage. According to Fountain of Hope, a non-profit organization, Jenkem is used by street children in Lusaka, Zambia as a substitute for ordinary inhalants such as glue or petrol.

According to anecdotal sources and still unconfirmed media reports, Jenkem is as of November 2007 in the process of attaining a foothold among US teenagers, although several voices are alleging that these reports are based on a hoax . Jenkem is also a South African brand of white carpenters glue.

The two major gas byproducts of raw human sewage breaking down are hydrogen sulfide and methane. Hydrogen sulfide will form sulfuric acid in the presence of moisture. I have never heard of methane being an intoxicant.

Methane is non-toxic......I think this is an urban legand born on the internet.

I had checked SNOPES prior to posting this. What is said at the end of the entry does not mean it is "False", it just means that it is not happening in America.

Shit, even good old H20 will get you buzzed if taken a certain way... If there is a way to get high off of something, somebody somewhere has figured it out and is doing it.. this wouldn't surprise me in the least.
