Hello Rangers,
My name is Jake and I'm a 21 year old university student majoring in public administration, international relations and rhetoric. I speak three languages, Polish, German and English, and I intend on learning more given the opportunity. I haven't taken the ASVAB yet seeing as how I'm slated to graduate in December '08....so I still have some time.
I started to seriously consider the Army as a viable option after college around two or three years ago. I did the ROTC program for a year, but I came to the conclusion that I'd prefer going enlisted (something about fresh-from-the-frat-house, dumbass LT's leading men into combat didn't sit right with me...) before eventually doing OCS. I want the enlisted experience, and it strikes me as the best way to really be able to communicate and know your men when you become an Officer.
I want the Army to unlock my potential, to set me on the path of human excellence. So naturally the Rangers came into mind.
I'm in the ROTC program as well, doing PT with them as well as other basic shit (you can do two years of ROTC before contracting) like marksmanship, battle drills, SITREPs, etc.
So yea, that's a little about me.

Welcome to the site Jake. Thank you for your desire to serve our great country and interest to do it with the Rangers. I sure hope that works out for you. I don't know anything about knees, but there are dozens of Rangers on this site that are SME's on that topic. I'll let them address that with you. If not, with your language skills there will be some other area to use your skills. Best wishes on your military career.

Why is it always about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$.???????
Guess I am fucked up. Duty, Honor, Country.
Maybe I'm just old.

Rangers,
Thank you for the warm welcome. The responses I've received only strengthens my desire to join, and all the comments that I have gotten regarding my ACL/waiver issue have helped to reassure me...I really thought I was done for. I have no intention of quitting, I just wanted to make sure my efforts weren't futile.
Ranger Jim, my school and APFT scores are as follows:
School: Drake University
Run: 13:49
PU: 77
SU: 56
My last sit-up result was a great disappoint to me, and so I'm focusing more on that area. I lift 4-5 times a weak and I think I'm focusing too much on that...I'm planning on incorporating some more Core/ab stuff when I lift.
As I said, I'm not graduating until December of '08 (tentative) so I still have some time. I'll continue my physical self-improvement and reading this site, and perhaps in the near future I'll start making some steps toward the actual enlistment process (I think I'll ask one of the Cadre to refer me to a good recruiter, one that can put together a nice waiver package, heh). Only Option 40 will satisfy me...all or nothing.

1. Drake, near Des Moines, Iowa is a good school. Excellent choice.
2. You do need some work on your PT scores. You should strive to improve your scores by adopting one of the programs you can find on this site. You have time on your side.
3. After you have some enlisted experience and a combat tour under your belt, you should have no trouble with OCS (well, it worked for me).
Now, please tell us more about yourself.
