First visit to recruiter..
Rangers,
I drove over to the recruiting station for the first time this morning with my father. I was upfront with my desire to enlist with an option 40 contract, and firm about it, asserting that it was option 40 or nothing. They didn't try to persuade me into any other field. They had me take a practice ASVAB, and I scored an 80; according to them the practice test is harder, and that by adding 10 points to it the score is closer to what you would actually get on the real ASVAB. I know that I aced the sections not dealing with math; it has been a couple years since I have taken a math course. Before I take the real ASVAB I am going to go back over basic Algebra and Geometry to ensure a higher score when it counts.
They collected my basic information, and I am going in at noon tomorrow to fill out more paperwork and schedule an appointment to MEPS. One of the recruiters I am dealing with (there are two) was in 3rd Batt and has his Ranger Tab.
I am going to stick to my guns at MEPS and take as many trips there as is required to obtain the option 40 contract. I am glad to finally be taking the first steps towards enlisting.

All you DEP's, Newts, Embryos, whatever--Keep your message traffic restricted to PM's. No one gives a shit about your ASVAB stories.

Rangers, another update.
I went up to the MEPS Thursday and took my ASVAB, scoring a 95 with a 132 GT. The next day I took my physical and scored all 1's. The guidance counselors tried to push me into 88M Option 40 for a while, and then after looking at my scores again they tried to push me at 18x for a while. I told them I wouldn't sign anything other than an 11x Option 40, and that if they would produce that contract for me I would sign it right now. Well, they of course made a call up to ROC and got it for me, and then I had to write a letter that was faxed up to ROC stating why I wanted to ship October 15th, and it was approved. So, I got my 11x Option 40 with my ship date being 20071017.
