The rule when we commission 2LT's is five years, and I'm pretty sure this applies to enlisted as well.

Just called a recruiter friend of mine and asked him about this. Fortunately he just put a guy in the Army with the same situation.

It depends on what kind of treatment you've had, but if you've had surgery than the rule is 5 years past the surgery. There's not even a waiver needed if you submit all your paperwork from your doctors and surgeons saying you're clear.

This is fromt the horse's mouth so to speak.

Rangers,

I apologize for taking so long to answer, I was out of town for a couple of days celebrating the 4th. Thanks for all of your responses, it was awesome to come back and see that so many of you have taken the time to respond.

Ranger T Man,

I had to under go an operation to remove a large tumor from my abdomen. The cancer had spread to my lymph nodes located in my abdomen, and it had grown to be about the size of a football. During the operation to remove the tumor they positioned my right arm above my head and I was laying on my side. The brachial plexus nerve is located in the shoulder, and the surgery was long (12 hours). This cause my nerve to basically die because of lack of blood flow. Fortunately for me nerves can grow back, but it was a very slow and discouraging process.

Ranger Invictus,

Im currently living in Washington State and I am attending WSU.

Ranger j.rico,

Thanks a ton for checking on that for me. I wasnt sure if I wanted to go and talk to the recruiter yet, because I wont be enlisting for awhile. That is definately motivating to hear and I will be working ever harder to get myself back in shape.

Thanks again Rangers for welcoming me, I don't want to wait any longer to join up, but I know right now I am not even close to being ready for the task.

Is there any reading material that is recommending that will help me prepare? I just picked up "To Be a U.S. Army Ranger" and I am going through it pretty fast.

Thanks again for all of the responses and feel free to ask me any other questions that come to mind. Ranger T Man, I dont mind the jokes, Im sure Ill get some when Im going through the process so I better get used the them, lol.
