Ranger Jim, excuse me for my vague response. Ranger Jim as of now I'm with HHC 1ST BN 124 INF, attached to C. Co., infantry. I must admit that I feel that a lot of doors have close to me since I enlisted in the National Guard but at the same time others have opened. I have yet to meet anyone who has earned the Tab. I am not sure that while I am in the Guard that I will have the opportunity to go Airborne or be to attend Ranger School. The 20th is in Jacksonville, I currently live in Southern Florida, which creates an issue with making it to drill but that is why we have planes, trains and cars and I am willing to travel to be SF. I have spoken to my NG recruiter about becoming a Ranger and he told me to forget it, I will not.

Ranger Jim if I had to opportunity to apply to Ranger School I would in a heart beat.

If you are enlisting for 11B, it just might be possible.

How bad is it when I'm quoting myself?

Here is more on the subject: As a guardsman you don't have a Ranger enlistment option . Following basic and AIT, when you return to your unit submit a request to attend the Ranger course. You then attend ARNG pre-Ranger training at Fort Benning, followed by Ranger School. School funding is managed by each state. One option might be to enlist for 20th Special Forces Group (I think 3d Battalion is in Florida), which would enhance your chances for Ranger school.
