Introduction
Hello, my name is Gerard. I am 21 years old and currently reside in Burbank, Califnornia.
I am not a DEP, nor have I spoken with a recruiter. I will be joining the service in early 2008 going the 11x route with airborne and option 40.
Why have I not yet signed up? I wanted to take the initiative and be in the best possible shape, both physically and mentally, for my journey to becoming more then just a soldier, to be a US Army Ranger. Already in the past three months I have been physically preparing myself for what lay ahead in boot camp and beyond. I know becoming a Ranger isn't simply just a matter of being physically fit. It is also a state of mind. I am willing to live, eat and breathe becoming an Army ranger if thats what it takes to earn the Tab and be the best of the best.
I came to this site because of the vast resources and talent pool it contained that will assist me in my goal of becoming a Ranger. Many of my questions have already been answered, but I know there is still much to learn and absorb. Thank you for the opportunity. With that said, I will STFU, and watch and listen.

Welcome to the site Gerard.
To assist you and motivate you, please post your height/weight measurments as well as administer a diagnostic PT test. 2 mile run, full 2 minutes pushups and full 2 minute situps.
Post the results in this thread, do not start a new one.
Thanks for your desire to serve as an Army Ranger.

I delayed for 8 months so I could attend my sisters wedding before I went in. It made no difference in the long run, I still got to BN, still got my Tab, still got my E-5 and became a section leader in BN, still went to Jumpmaster, still did all the things I wanted to do (as much as you could in the Clinton era at 2/75 at least).
Take the time you need to prepare yourself, just don't get in to trouble or lose sight of your goals during that time. I spent a lot of time with friends, hung with my family and had a great time prior to going in and I would never change that. Realize that you will never be the same again after you become an Army Ranger. It will change everything about you.
Good luck

Ranger JLTW, I will capitalize Ranger everytime from this point on.
Ranger RTO, current height and weight measurements are 5'9" 160lbs. PT will be posted as soon as possible.
Ranger Matador275, I am on the skinny side and looking to build muscle strength in my upperbody. I know my current weakness will be pushups and pullups. I have had a personal trainer assisting me for the past few weeks and have noticed a increase in strength and weight gain. When I started I was a skinny bastard at 135. My target weight will be 180+.
Ranger Charlie 51, thank you for the advice. I want to spend this time not only training hard but to organize my civilian life. By organize, I mean take care of some bills I have, nothing major but I would like to go into the service without having anything to worry about back in my civilian life. I have never been in trouble with the law. I don't drink and I don't smoke.
