Really? Why? Because you saw a movie about WWII Rangers and thought it was cool?

Tell me what our DUI is and where it came from. That will let me know how much you admire my history.

I believe the rangers originally had tan berets, and then switched to Black, however I can't remember the reason for the switch...
300 word report on the complete history of the Ranger beret and who/why it changed. No cut and paste crap. In your own words.

The tradition of black berets was originally started by armor units, specifically the British Royal Tank Regiment in 1924. The first use of the modern beret was in 1943 by a battalion of the 509th Parachute Infantry. It was maroon, and was given to them by their British counterparts for their service in the war.
On January 30, 1975, the Rangers received approval from the Army Chief of Staff to use black berets as their official headgear via AR670-5. On Oct. 17 2001, Army Chief of Staff Eric Shinseki announced the black beret would become standard Army headgear the following year. His decision enraged many veteran and active duty Rangers, as well as the Airborne and Special Forces. In 2002 the army made the tan-beret the official beret of the US Army Rangers, while all other Army units would wear the black beret. The choice to change to tan was because of it being reflective of the buckskin worn by the men of Rogers Rangers.
The beret is received apon successful completion of the Ranger Indoctrination Program, along with the ranger scroll for the battalion.

Its only 186 words, but I believe I have covered all the changes made.
Good enough.

But knock em out. 1 for each word that you were short.

Hmmmm. Are you sure about that Johnny Highspeed?

Could not follow instructions.

Did not complete objective.

Your post also tells me that you are lazy, find the easy way out of everything, and that you are an "instant gratification" type persona. How do I know this? You feel the need to respond quickly, without being prepared, give half-ass answers and think that you can fly by the seat of your pants because no one has ever challenged you before.

You could have just stated that you want to serve, and are willing to make the attempt to serve in the 75th Ranger Regiment. You, my friend, are the person that told us that you admired Rangers and their history. I asked you a simple question, which you replied to incorrectly.

Slow down, take a breath & read more. Think before you type. Seek aid from the DEPs.

186 words, and I believe not one of them was your own. I believe that was a cut & paste job. Did I not ask you to put it in your own words?

The reason this is important is you will be tested on Ranger history when you attend RIP. It's also important because every Ranger on this forum has earned his beret with blood, sweat and tears.

Good luck with that.

Crusader wrote:Hello Rangers,

My name is Zack and I am 20 years old. I currently live in Arkansas, where I goto school at the University of Arkansas. My father was a Marine, and my little brother is joining the Marines in June. I have always admired Rangers, and their history, especially during WWII. I am finishing my last semester of college this week (not graduating), and after that I am going to begin working out to get in shape for the Army. I plan on enlisting sometime around June/July, with an 11x option 40 contract. This website has been great for giving me information about the Rangers, and I enjoy the no bullshit style you run the board.
How you liking the "no bullshit style" now that you are directly in the crosshairs Toolsader.

If you want to stay around here you better get to studying. And when you finish all of the requirements given to you by Ranger Bravo 57 and others, here are a few more questions for you since you are such a student of Ranger history.

1. What is the Ranger significance of the colors White, Khaki, Red, Blue, Orange and Green?

2. Look at Ranger RTO's "thingy" floating below his tagline. Its called a DUI. What is the significance of the 12 pointed star and the lightning bolt? What do the Blue and Green colors stand for?

3. Why are we called Rangers?

4. The 6th Ranger BN accomplished something no other unit of its size did in WWII. What was it? A single combat aircraft supported this event. What was it and what was unique about it?

5. What or who is G.R.I.T.S.?

Now go school yourself turdball and give us a reason to let you peruse this site.
