And shepherds we shall be, for thee my Lord for thee, power hath descended forth from thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out thy command. We shall flow a river forth to thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be. In nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritus Sancti.

My apologies for being MIA. I deserve all your barrages for dragging ass. I owe you all a pushup burnout session and will gladly start after the assignment is completed.
Favorite Stanza:
Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country.
ESSAY
It was difficult to choose a favorite. They are all there for a reason, but I find that this one essentially covers it all in regards to the meaning of being a Ranger. The confidence that Rangers emanate from their damn pores is illustrated in the stanza. Rangers are the elite. They will meet their enemies with their heads held high with the full intent of decisively defeating them. No question about it, do or die. Surrender or quit was divinely banished from the vocabulary of every Airborne Ranger at their baptism, the soldiers' second birth, the completion of RIP. And the Loyalty between each Ranger is impenetrable. The Honor of every Ranger is without blemish. That is why I want to be a Ranger. All the hooah stuff is great, the training top notch, the equipment state of the art. But the Honor and Loyalty the Rangers feel they must uphold at all cost is what draws me to the 75th. I want to be the best with the best. I want to be with the fellas who will be the eyes on the back of my head, and I theirs.

My answer
I posted this under the other thread, but was told to repost it here: sorry for the delay and misunderstanding..
Ranger Odin's Underling, excuse the lateness of this post, I received my PM tonight and am just now reading the thread for the first time.

This stanza of the Ranger creed summarizes everything that a United States Army Airborne Ranger is. A Ranger is a warrior, seeking justice for his country and brothers in arms. Every Ranger is a leader among an organization full of leadership. Rangers know their enemy, and will fight when told to fight, they will stop when told to stop, and they will do what is asked of them by their unit, the Army, or the commander in chief. They do not question leadership abilities of others, or over examine political situations or differences. They are here servants of the United States, and the people within. I feel that this stanza emphasizes what it is to be an Army Ranger, one who appears fearless, and will do anything for their fellow warrior in battle.

Good one PBR Street Gang. I like that shit. Go out in a with both guns blazing.PabstBlueRibbon wrote:I initially posted in the previous thread May 5 around 7 pm, but as requested, I'll repost this essay.
Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor.
This, the final stanza of the Ranger Creed, succinctly captures a more salient facet of my conception of what it means to be a Ranger, and is consequently favored. An image is elicited of a single man standing amidst the remains of his fallen comrades, stalwart and steadfast, as advancing hords bring impending doom. Without falter, forward he hurls. I am ever a fool for rhetoric, as my introduction betrays and as many were quick to point out, but this striking passage ascends beyond my bombast tendencies and directs me accordingly. Indeed, the gravity of this stanza is chilling, and for that I find it appealing.
