Scores...and PT

Post by Apollo »

I was talking to my recruiter today and he mentioned that It was very competitive to get an Option40 contract. I am not sure I completely understand this.
Since I got a 99 on my ASVAB then I wouldn't have any problems getting the Option 40 contract as long as I passed the physical and Fitness test. Are there any Physical scores I should shoot to break?
I probably won't be able to sign till June at the earliest and February at the latest, so I have sometime to increase my pt scores. I was just wondering how I could make myself more competitive for the slot.
here are my scores so far...

Run 13:38
Pushups 59
Situps 80 (not sure if in 2 minuites, but it was non-stop)

Also can you get a 91W contract with Option 40?

you're not passing a physical fitness test. you have to pass a medical examination.

having a 99 AFQT IS GOOD LEVERAGE. use it wisely.

why would you not be taking the physical until June?

91W may recieve OP40's. Ranger BN's need medics, too.

I'll rephrase I can take the physical now (I'm 17) but I won't be allowed until I get my father to agree to it and that may not be till June or even as late as next february (my 18th B-day).
Thanks for the info SFC Hit_it, How could I use my ASVAB scores to my advantage to get the contract I want? Play chicken with the meps councilors?

thank you, Ranger Steadfast.

Apollo, just believe when i say that a HS SR with that good of a score should be okay. just be direct at MEPS. further guidance is lurking on the forum. i won't touch it here.

Thank you SFC Hit_it. I'll let you know when I secure that contract (hopefully sooner than later).
Ranger Steadfast, Pardon my lack in manners. It won't happen again.

Did the standards change for PT Scores? I remember hearing something about changing the curve.

My run was 12.47, pushups were at 108-110 and situps at 95-100 at age 22. I know with my score at the time, I maxed out and then some. I wonder what I have to aim for (just out of curiosity) to max out.

You still would be maxing it.
