Introduction

Post by brad2007 »

Hello Rangers, and Veterans.
My name is Brad. I'm 27 years old, and married with 4 children. I am in the process of trying to join the Army with an 11x opt 40 contract. I have talked with a recruiter, and taken the asvab. I have not been to meps yet, because I have no college, and only a GED.
I am currently enrolled in a local community college. Classes start in mid May. I'm probably going to go to meps after I earn 15 credits, or I may wait untill after I earn an associates degree. Only because I will need at least 2 waivers to join the military. One is for the number of my kids, and the other I would rather not talk about in an open forum.
Thank you Rangers, Veterans, and active duty members for what you have done for us in your military service, and your time on this site. Brad

Welcome to the site Brad and thanks for your desire to serve your country and become an elite Army Ranger. You will find many of the answers to your questions here. The search feature will answer 99.999% of any questions you may have.

Are you in good physical condition? Please post some 2 mile run and 2 minute timed push up and sit up scores. At 27+ you will be competing for your option 40 slot with thousands of others in the 18-22 age range.

Thank you for the welcome Ranger RTO, and Dep68w.

As to your question Ranger RTO. I am not in good physical condition. 35 push ups until failure, and 50 situps in 2 minutes. I will try to post a two mile run time asap. But I,m afraid that is my weakest point  (I smoke). Thank you again, and if you have any more questions please ask.

Thanks for your honesty. I'll try my best to help you. You want to be a Ranger? STOP SMOKING NOW!!!!!!!

Seriously, it is going to slow down your run times and overall general conditioning. You can't go to RIP now with those PT scores. 2 minute pushups and situps need to be in the 75+ range and run needs to be in the 12-13 minute range for 2 miles by the time you get to RIP. YOU WILL NEVER ACHIEVE THESE TIMES WHILE SMOKING.

Welcome.

27 and 4 kids, you might want to tie a knot in that thing before it goes off again.

Thank you for the welcome Rangers. Ranger AbnRgr289, I have thought about tying a knot in the plumbing, but I think I will wait until I enlist to avoid any other possible waivers.

If you would like to discuss your situation through PM:

Post a message to me in the recruiting forum, and then PM ME WITH THE SPECIFICS.

I will help you to make sure you are not getting a raw deal.
