-I am a green card holder. [Just got it last year]
-An option to get college paid for is Army Reserve, but it nulls an Option 40 Contract.
-My recruiter and I where discussing a Split-Op Option. [Summer basic, College, Summer AIT, College, etc]
-I completely tore my ACL. I am in the process of getting a medical waiver.
I need to do Reserves to get my college paid for and speed up my citizenship process so I have a secruity clearance for RIP.
From my search results, it has come to my understanding that my best shot in would be with an Airborne contract, a support MOS, and maxed 2mile, push-ups, and sit-ups.
Is there any more I can do to become more appealing to the Regiment?
Thank you,
Nate

Appealing to the Regiment

I am assuming you mean after college.
Once commissioned, you will have to have successful platoon leader time (and probably some XO Time) before applying (not appealing) to the 75th Ranger Regiment.
All officers must be citizens. You can NOT be comissioned if you don't have it. REMEMBER THAT. It may come back to haunt you as sometime getting citizenship ca be 3 months or 30 years.
Expect to serve for about 24-30 months as an O before applying.
If you are talking about joining active duty instead of college:
1) Make sure you get the medical waiver for the ACL first.
2) Said waiver may pose a problem for getting airborne in your contract. Medical Waivers are not usually authorized Airborne training.
3) If you do get a waiver, and are eligible for Airborne, take it. You will have to serve somewhere else until you obtain your citizenship, then you can apply for service in the Ranger Regiment.
4) If close to reenlistment when you do in fact get your citizenship, reenlist for the 75th Ranger Regiment.
Anything else?

My plan is as follows:
-During the summer months after High School graduation - Split-OP Basic/OSUT
-2 Semester's of Undergrad [Freshman Year]
-During the summer months after first year of college - Split-OP AIT
-2 Semester's of Undergrad [Sophomore Year]
-During the summer months after second year of college - Airborne School, provided I get a medical waiver.
After I am finished with my undergrad schooling, I plan, provided I have my citizenship relist as Active Duty.
Speeding Up Citizenship
Do the instructions provided by Ranger Kilted Heathen apply to Reserve soliders as well? Could I use that method even though I am going to enlist in the reserves and not active duty?
If I get denied a medical waiver with my ACL injury for Airborne School, Is that it, or can I bargain and prove that I am fit to perform just as well as if I didn't sustain my injury?
Thank you,
Nate

SFC Hit_it, I cannot attend an ROTC program during college because I need citizenship first.

Hey Hit it, I think he called you a hockey player, or maybe just mother fucker.
Obviously nate hasn't read the rules and regulations for addressing Rangers on this site.

I was under he impression that citizenship was not needed until you were and MS III and were about to contract.
No matter.
The path to want you want is still there. You just have to enlist to get it. There are plenty of O's that were enlisted first and that number grows everyday.
Think about this, would you be happy waiting however long it took to get your citizenship or would you want to start the path to success and then watch everything come to you that you worked for.
Ranger Kitled Heathen is the perfect example.
The regulation used to state that when a green card holder served 8 years and still didn't have citizenship, they had to ETS.
Ranger KH was looking for a way around that (I seem to recall something about driving on... Ranger Objective)
and when the regulation changed (as he knew in his heart it would) he was there to benefit from it.
He is now his old self and over in the box doing what he was meant to do.
You can achieve your goals to. It's all spelled out for you. You just have to squint a little more than some in order to read it.

Sitrep:
I had my medical documents sent up to the recruitment office and my paper work filed. Then their computers went down so I had to wait about 3 weeks to re-file my paper work and await the MEPPS decision for a medical waiver.
Just when things where going good, I had another "slip" from the grapefruit of a lump I call a knee. I had an MRI today and I find out what the problem is on Thursday. Either I re-tore my ACL, broke up sum scare tissue, or some other problem.
Now the recruiters are thinking that I'm pulling their legs and using my knee as a scapegoat to get out of signing. My recruiter's CO is telling me that getting a medical waiver for an Airborne Contract is out of the question, and he is skeptical about me wanting to join.
I would like to enlist now so I can get my Citizenship out of the way before I earn my undergraduate degree so I can have clearance to RIP. If my ACL is torn I have two options:
1. Get another surgery and wait another year before enlisting into the Reserves; however I would have even more complications for a Medical Waiver...
2. Go ahead with Basic without an ACL. I played some football without an ACL, and I know what its going to take, along with the risks. After Basic I would get my surgery, recover that year and be ready to go AIT the next summer?
Advice?
I do not understand. After I gain my citizenship, put in my 4 years of Army Reserve, I cannot make the decision to go Active Duty and attempt to apply for the Regiment as an enlisted solider?
Do I have to earn an Officer rank before I can even think about applying for the Regiment with the situation I am in?

Yes you may change over from the reserves to the active duty as an enlisted Soldier.SFC Hit_It,

Yes you may get option 40 at that time. We have had a few people do so recently. Since the Army needs people and will probably need MORE people then, I think they will cater.
No you do not have to wait until you are an Officer to switch to active duty. I answered your question that way because it was geared toward being an officer.
