Welcome to the patrol base & thatk you for the excellent intro - lessons learned there fo rothers.
Making RS as far as you did as a civilian was still an accomplishent.
When I was in batt, we tried to avoid the summer classes because of the high percentage of cadets (USMA & ROTC) kept the base line instruction at a lower level, compared to the other 3/4s of the year where classes consisted largely of serving military.
Never the less, my FL phase Ranger Buddy was an ROTC cadet who also became the class distinguished honor grad.
When I crossed paths with him 16 years later, the once inf/abn/ranger officer was now QM, Lord only knows how he strayed....
Korea, especially on the 'Z', and MFO were two great assignments for officers wanting to hit the ground running.
Did you keep your talent in the reserve components?
