Reserves

Post by mavslax »

My recruiter told me I can be in the reserves during college for all four years without ever going to AIT. Is this true, and if so, when I go active after college, can I be an 11X since I will have already completed Basic and 11X AIT is OSUT? I would technically be going through Basic twice.

It's been over a month and nobody has answered your question. The silence should be deafining... Do your own research, don't take what a recruiter has to say as gospel. Post your findings, I wana make sure you get this right.

I am now being told that I will have to go to AIT, but that I am not considered prior service unless I have spent 6 months on Active Duty, which is in direct contrast to the sticky posted in this forum. He also said that I could negotiate for an opt 40 even if I was prior service, which is also in contrast with the sticky posted here. I am going to trust the Rangers here over the recruiter, but that doesn't change the fact that I need the Reserves to pay for my college, so I will just have to TRY to work my way into the Regiment once I'm active. Thank you Ranger PurduePara203.
