Dude, do what you must, but I would get my opt 40 back at all cost, if I were you. There is a huge difference being in a unit where people chose to be there, as opposed to being assigned there. You will get better everything in Battalion; billets, chow, training, pussy.. everything. Ther Ranger Regiment is one of the few units with summary reliease authority, so if you don't like it (or can't hack it..) once you are there you can leave. Belive me, if they don't want you, they will fucking DX your ass faster than you can say "this place sucks!".. The only thing I can think of that will keep you from doing well in Batt. is if you are a single parent with custody of kids. If it is a spose that is buggin' because you might be away so much, refer to what Soul Snatcher said about the deployment lenght. In general, the Regiment goes in, does there shit, and then gets the fuck out.... but hey, you are going to do what you want anyway. Just don't make a rash decision without knowing all the facts. My orders were fucked up, and they go me RIP orders the day of graduation from airborne.

Rangers,

Thank you for the advice you have given. I know that the 75th is the very best the Army has to offer as my father served in 3/75 back in the day. Unfortunatly what's done is done and because "the regiment is at 160% for 11Bs right now" I am unable to change what I have already done. I have just finished Airborne School and I am on orders for the 2nd BDE 82nd ABN now. I hope to see some of you in the sandbox in the near future.

I always thought that 160% overstrength equaled 30% understrength when referring to the Regt?

Sounds like a bullshit statistic for a bullshit excuse. If I go back, I hope I don't see you in the box, that means I'll be working with you doing a show of force walking down the streets with white lights on 3mph looking for IED's. To me, that is crazier than Ranger Battalion.

Have fun, chump.
