OG hit it on the head. While I could not open your website, I'm amazed that you have one. I would not. Oh, and welcome...

send him a picture of your ass with his name scrawled across the cheeks and take it in downtown Kabul.
That's some funny shit right there OG. That'd make a GREAT avatar!

Welcome MJones. If you have balls then grab em and stick around...if not, move out and draw fire.

Wierd I just tried my site, it works. Do you have some sort of NetNanny at work or something? Even if that was the case I don't think it would block my site.

Anyhow, we say "my soldier." At least I do. I love being an NCO and so my soldiers are like my "kids" or whatever. I care about their well being and what not.

As for the cussing, if you knew me, you knew that wouldn't be a problem. The 1SG here said I cuss too much and I am not allowed to swear in the office anymore.

As for the OPSEC...unfortunately, nothing I have posted is either exciting or in violation. I wish my job was half as exciting as people made it sound, when you tell them you are an "interrogator." Even the interrogation manual is unclassified, and available for free distro all over the net (as a matter of fact, they handed copies out at the last press meeting about it).

The fact that I work at the Joint Interrogation Facility...dude, the local nationals watch me walk into the facility every day. Every single local here knows where it is at, knows what goes on there, and knows who goes inside. Nothing I have said is anything that they would even need to lookup on the internet, they can just see me going to work each day.

Sigh. I wish I had the fun job of a Ranger, Inf, or SF, but when you aren't out in the rough, the job is quite boring actually. The time I spent near the border was great, the time here is almost like a garisson environment.

As I said before about the idiot that wanted me vetted - that isn't why I actually joined. I came here via the link he gave but was more intrigued with the people here, that is why I joined.

I can take shit no problem, and dish it back out. But still, I see the way people like MI around here, so I guess I will see...

I wish I could have been something more exciting, but after 7 years of ice hockey and 3 or so years of jumping in and out of the rocket launchers / HEMMTs, I jacked up both my knees. The shameful thing is, when I was artillery I wanted desperately to try airborne/AA school, but there is no slots for heavy arty (99.99% of the time). Now I have a million chances to do just about anything and I don't think I could make it. I still score a 300 on my PT test but afterwards I limp around.

I can see it now...if I make warrant, I will probably stay in for 20, I'll be that old crusty CW4/5 who can barely salute and limps around haha.

1). As OG stated, no one gives a shit about your MOS...good, bad or indifferent. We have some intel guys here who are held in high regard.

2).
I wish I could have been something more exciting, but
"Exciting" is completely subjective.

3). A good rule of thumb to start with is: Read more; Post less.

Welcome!

How's the quality of life there? I'm sure it's improved a lot since I was there (summer 2002). Are there still frequent EOD detonations?

My MOS background 96B, so one of my main tools for data collection has been research instead of your, um, "methods". So, here's my points on research and how it relates to OPSEC:

Haji (over there) or Guido the Conman (over here) both have plenty of joes they could target. So they jump on the net and fire up google. Now, Bob and Gary both have there life stories posted on the internet. Bob's life story is spread over several hundred posts on an online forum; Gary's story is consolidated in 1-2 google hits. Who's going to be the mark <rhetorical>?

For Old Grunt, and others wondering about MJones' "my soldier" comments, the phrase is not uncommon amongst MI NCOs, probably because less "shitheads" make it through the 3-18 months worth of AIT and/or language school.

There's a lot more of us here than you think, I was 96B/96D. Branch has nothing to do with it here.

Us FOG's do that to relieve the boredom of our washed up, burnt out lives, y'know.
It still sounds gay, though.
