19K! NO RANGER FOR YOU! SCOUTS OUT!!! Ask SB he'll tell you the deal on sending 19Ks to Ranger and Airborne School. :)

Online Recruiters! :x :x :x :x :x :x

Who's telling you can't get 11X, MEPS?
MEPS Counselor?
I believe 19K might be priority this Month, I'd tell them no thanks and you'll come back later. They'll put back out in the waiting room to contiplate your decision and make you believe you should take it. I say wait and if they don't budge...Say you'll come back some other time..

they will get the slot if you hold out on them. I know these things, I was a recruiter for 6 excruciating months.

I also was a recruiter..(notice lower case) for 3 freakin painful years. Did you enlist for 19K already?

I guess in your innumerable searches of this website you somehow missed all the words of advice to young men, such as yourself, instructing them to HOLD OUT for an MOS that is included as part of the 75th Ranger Regiment.

So, you'll have three years to spend reflecting on your choice of Armor as the branch you'll serve in.

Best of luck to you.

I was informed by an online recruiter I might be able to get specialized training (Airborn, Ranger... etc.) if I get assigned to a Stryker Brigade.

Can I get any confirmation on this, and are there any requirements to getting assigned to one of these brigades?
OK Tecnically your recruiter isn't lying. You will have the "ability" to attend specialized training but you will not get the "Opportunity" to attend any training that is not conducted at Fort Knox. Most 19Ks I know now have changed their MOS to 19D (Scout and just as sorry as a Tanker). Take it, what do you care? Being a Ranger is over-rated anyway.

Here's an additional thought. Tell your recruiter "that for reasons undetermined you have decided he is an ass clown unworthy of wiping a Ranger's Ass!"

Alright I know I'm a cherry on the forum and promised to STFU but hey I just went through this prior service stuff so let me add.....

Yeah, it IS that important!! Holy crap I was ready to do everything and anything to just get BAC and an jump unit. I even asked what Colonel's boots I had to take a shit on so I could get busted down to Private. I walked away from a career counselor twice just to get something resembling what I wanted. Did I feel selfish about any of that? FUCK NO. It's MY career, not some assclown civilians who writes the contracts.

The power is(was since you signed already) all yours, needs of the army is a bullshit excuse they throw at you at MEPS to get you to sign a contract. NEVER settle unless you absolutely have to.

Before I come off as hypocritical, there's a big difference between buying into "you have to go commo because that's what the army needs" and having a CSM tell you that prior service can't get BAC or go to an airborne unit.

Good luck reclassing and getting into an MOS that Rangers actually need.
