Enlisted Canadian - Wanting to come south

I hear to join the US Army you need a legal alien status. How is this obtained, am I right in saying thats what you need to enlist?

I would want to enlist with the idea of going 82nd and then applying for full citizenship and going into the Rangers using whatever method after. I hear after you hit the 82nd it takes about a year to get full citizenship from your Legal Alien status.

Please just clear up if you can, how I get my Alien Status, and then from there what steps are needed when I speak to the recruiter down south to make sure I can try for the 82nd.

My computer shuts off in 2 minutes, had to rush it, otherwise would have been more elaborate.

Ranger EarthPig. I am currently doing my basic training in Canada. When I get on a computer, I get 20 minutes a pop and cant spend all of it reading previous posts. I did go through the first 3 pages of the recruitment form and couldnt find the answers to those questions. Did I read every post, no I didnt. But I tried reading the ones that looked like they pertained to me. I dont know half the terms regarding half the steps for becoming a Ranger or even entering your military. I have no previous experience with the American Army. Im asking the questions because I cant get all the time I need to surf the internet and find the answers. If I had the time to read everything, I would do it. Im not good at being lazy. If someone cant post me a direct answer or a direct link to a post that answers my questions thats fine, Ill keep looking myself.
