You are a No/Go at this station.

Go read the the FAQ's and give your intro another shot, do it in this thread, "DO NOT START ANOTHER ONE!"

And get an avatar.

How about go read some other DEP intros so you know what we're looking for then try it again. Research does wonders.

This one sentance bullshit isn't going to cut it.

Hi my name is Brian. I'm 16 years old, I'm interested in joining the Rangers and I've come to this site to meet people who have gone through the whole process and to get some good advice and to get any questions answered if any happen to come to mind.

I've basically wanted to be in the Army since I was a little kid when my grandfather always told me about his job in WWII; he was an airplane mechanic in the Phillipines and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Airforce. Other than that my family hasn't had a huge history in the armed forces.

Recently I have come to a sort of crossroads where my parents are trying to tell me what to do and trying to get me to college, but I really don't care too much about money like them and I would take a rewarding job over 4 years of college and then getting some crappy job in an office.

Thanks to Ranger AbnRgr289 and Foozbat for their positive renforcement during the struggle with my previous introductions.

Thats better.

If you choose to enlist after High school there is a possibility that you can attend night courses or take some on-line courses. That will help you further your education while you serve.

What classes would help me in whatever it is that I might be doing?

The thing is that I'm not joining to get money for college or too get that fat $40,000 signing bonus. I'm joining to make a career out of it and I already plan on retiring from the Army, not quitting.

Here are some pointers:

1. READ THE FAQ's, Announcements and other pertinent things - at least twice.

2. Take anything and everything the Army wants to give you - you are doing a lot for very little in the service.

3. Don't think about something that is further away than you have been alive - you should be thinking about enlistment over retirement.

Classes? Graduate from high school. Learn to read and write. I know that sounds simple, but review the postings here and you will see how few really write well. This is a good near term goal.

Serving in the Ranger Regiment should be your near mid term goal. Prepare yourself by an effective PT program, and study the Ranger Creed, it is a good guide for life. Run, exercise and stay out of trouble. Just take it one step at a time and you'll get there. Some of the finest men in the world are here to help you along. Matty gave you some very good advice. I would add only: Welcome...
