Introduction

Post by JBB »

First, thank you all for your service.

I am a civilian 23 years of age, and currently awaiting my 2nd board for WOFT on July 12th. I was a non-select the first go in June. I have been viewing the board for a couple of months now, and always knew that if I enlisted that Ranger would be the route I would take. I have over 90 hours college, 85 asvab, 115 AFAST and now I am awaiting and trying to weight my options if I am a second non-select.

I have always been involved with sports through life, and played football while in college. I am 6'1'' 215lbs. I was up around 240lbs. when in college, but since focusing effort on joining the Army I have lost most of my extra weight by running, eating, and lifting differently. I enjoy being challenged in life, and very interested in reading this forum more about what is going to be expected of me if I go on to enlist as 11x option 40.

I have a friend that is a DEP as an 18x and leave sometime in October, and he is trying with all he has to convince me to go along. I read a post on this site where it was stated that you can't always stay in the regiment for the rest of your life, and some guys go on to SF, or WOFT, or what ever those might choose. I feel going Ranger first would provide a solid foundation and open doors for which ever choice I might make to further my career in the Army.

I have been training with weights 4 days a week... usually doing 3-5 sets of higher reps per exercise and usually till failure or close to it.. taking only about 45 sec. to 1 min. rest between sets. I run 2 days a week and now up to 4-6 miles per run, and then bike for 25-30 min. on a third day for a light day of cardio. My eating has gotten a lot cleaner... with no fast foods, and pretty much just following a balance diet similar to the revised food pyramid. If anyone has any suggestion or revised routine please feel free.. I am just trying to focus less on bulk and explosiveness, and more on endurance while trying to keep some strength.

Thank you again Rangers.
