Introduction
Don't have an Avatar yet, but will get one. My son served 12 years with 75th Ranger Rgt. He was in 2/75 for 6 years, then Instructor at PreRanger, and then with S3 Shop at Rgt HQ. He has CIB, Master Para, Pathfinder, British Jump Wings. SERE School grad. Served with 75th in Afghanistan and Iraq. E7 when he went to OCS. Did PL tour in Iraq with 3ID. Still assigned that unit.
I'm retired military, but no combat time.

Good intro and welcome here. Assume you were at Polk? Tell us about yourself. While your justifiably proud of your son, you served...tell us about it.
Always glad to have Dad's here but your a soldier, your welcome here in your own right.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

Thanks for welcome
Thanks for making me feel at home, but it's my son who deserves to be on this site, not me. I'm more than just proud of him. He's one of the finest soldfiers I've ever known, and I've known some damn fine ones. My father (CBI Combat Engineers and Combat Patrol missions with US and Allied forces in Burma WW II) comes to mind as one. My son's maternal Grandfather (Higgins Coxwain at North Africa, Normandy, and Pacific) is another. And dear ol' Buster "Mad Dog" Miller (173rd ABN, and Ranger RVN) is yet another. Maybe some of the old timers might know him. He's got health probs, so if you do remember him, and have lost touch, PM me, and I'll provide contact info. I'm sure he'd love to hear from you.
I put up an intro because I sometimes run into people or things that might be of interest/use to members here, and saw that an intro is required to post.
I was never assigned at Ft Polk, and never served in Combat Arms. Was at Leighton Brks and Flak Kaserne in Germany, Ft Devens, Ft Lee, Hanscom AFB, and finished out with a TAACOM in New Orleans. Designated 4F at last physical before commissioning. (Very Surprising and Frustrating for me, although the story of the physical is kinda funny...and pathetic.) Lost commission, ABN School, Rgr School, and Combat Arms assignment. Got in later on med waiver. (Army was desperate then...sort of like now.) Assigned QM. Finished same Branch, but assigned GS, with specialty in Info Systems. Only "claim to fame" militarily is some special training work at Devens, creation of what became an early model for the DSCIM/ACSIM, and the "pioneering" of some Info Sys initiatives that later became standard throughout the Army.
Not Ranger type stuff, but did do some good, and one project actually changed a piece of Army Doctrine.

I think you ought to put your service in your signature. You may not think it's much, but you're still a veteran and that's more than 90% of the population can say.

Ranger AbnRgr289, Avatar should now be up.
Ranger EvilCrouch, I appreciate your suggestion, but just don't think I meet the criteria for a signature block here other than "RangerDad".

Re: Avatar should now be up
You know what, there is the problem. Rangers have a job and they do it. You had a job and you did it. You wore a Uniform, you did what you were supposed to and from my experience, if your not proud of what you did, you probably shouldnt be here anyhow. So, what you think isnt the issue...if your not proud of what you did, post your shit and we will be proud FOR you.RangerDad275 wrote:Ranger AbnRgr289, Avatar should now be up.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.
