ANGRYCivilian wrote:Welcome, where are you at in FL? Stinger is just another weapon; fun to fire. I'm not sure why it's its own mos, though. Are your the man-stinger or the vehicle-stinger, or is it the same mos?

In ADA there is pretty much two mos's that are now combined, 14M and 14S, now if you go through school they are both combined, Avenger is the vehicle with the missle pods on top that is used in mechinized infantry, Stinger is used with leg infantry. We have 3 platoons and one is Stinger thats what i was on attacthed to so iam on foot while the rest use vehicles.
I like it that way cause they worry about technology, and i just worry about my legs.
Its a good job but the countries we have been to war with dont have much of an Airforce so.....

My unit is going to M.P and they asked me in a counsling statement what i wanted to do, and i know i didnt want to be M.P ( no offense to those that are) but i wanted to be 11B, so thats what i told them, i realize its hard to get that slot in the Army Guard but hopefully thats not true.

Thanks for the welcomes from you all.

You've gpt good options in the FL NG. An infantry brigade that fought in the initial Iraqi liberation, and if you want to keep deploying, go for an 18 series MOS & the 20SFGA.
That's a longer row to hoe, but what the hell, if you want to live the life, and not just wear a tab, try out for an ODA in the 20th.
If you REALLY want to live the life & fight the wars, explore your options for active duty in our regiment, the 75th Rangers.
Either way, whatever shape you think you're in - it isn't good enough.
Start a tougher PT program & start it yesterday.
No such thing as 'good luck', you'll make your own.
Report back when you have an SFAS or RIP date.

Roger that, and thanks for your help, SF was actually my main goal before anything but lately have been looking into Ranger. Leaders in the ARNG with me say it is near impossible to get a slot (Ranger), but they arent Rangers and we are still holding the 14S mos. I'am currently putting paperwork in for a unit north of me that is changing to RiSTA from a straight 11B company, I think that will be a good stepping stone to go to Infantry school and then be part of that unit.
