It isn't an inconvenience it is a learning moment. I don't doubt that you searched I doubt that you didn't search hard enough. I found those links in less than 5 minutes. Trust me. All the answers that you need are here, you just need to find them.
It's all good.

Go look on ebay and search for 'alice pack'. Medium or Large, it doesn't matter to get you started. They're cheap as shit. F the backpack. Get used to the extra-comfy alice frame and super plush shoulder straps. Get a few sand bags and fill a few with 10lbs and a few with 5lbs. The RA standard is like 35lbs. Get boots too. The same kind you will be wearing in the Army.

how bout this, get your yellow pages, look under " army/navy stores" or "camping", or "flea market" , find one in your town, walk there and buy one.
Immediately after that, find a pile of bricks, fill the ruck and run in one direction till u puke, run another mile, then turn around and run home, only faster

I was thinking the same thing, but didn't end up as good as I had hoped...I restrained myself from being the first to post to see the storm that might follow...there is always a next time for that...

Buy a new set of knees before everything else.

That along with a frame is identical to what they'll issue you with your TA50 gear in Basic, although it's a waste of money if you ask me. Just load a good backpack down with 45 lbs. and go at it, move up to 85 lbs. for marches, that's about what we had on in full battle rattle at Sill.
