Howdy from Texas
IAW w/ the stated SOP here's my introduction:
-A Non-Ranger, former Hope-To-Be, Jack of all Trades, Master of None.
-23 yrs+/- Army, Active/Reserve/TxNG/SHSU ROTC ( including a lovely week at Harmony Church for Ranger Week part of IOBC /Light track, 1979).
-Ordnance/Special Weapons Materiel (silver bullets)
-Korea, Ft Carson, Ft Devens
-7 yrs ARSOF ( the fun side, CA and Psyops) Bosnia 97-98.
made my cherry jump 17 years after Benning (it really is just like riding
a bicycle)
- amateur military history afficionado;
found this site while googling a few names
(looking for any info on Raymond Schuder, 1st Bn WWII)
Who is the last word (historian) on Ranger history, regarding the period from Rogers Rangers to the Civil War? I am wondering why the Texas Ranger Frontier Battalions, (not the cops nor the baseball team), are not considered part of the lineage and history. I could make a case for their inclusion (any Texans on this site?).
Hooahs to ya'll
PS- Sorry for jumping on the board elsewhere in violation of the SOP before the intro, however if I was one to follow the rules, I'd be Colonel by now.
I beg forgiveness from those that I humble before, and the especially the Big Airborne Ranger in the Sky and hope that he will remember all those push-ups I did in his honor in years gone by.

Welcome. More Texans here than from anyplace else except deployed military and contractors. And not meaning to start a fight, while following the rules can get you promoted, the best leaders get promoted by making rules.
WE NEED MORE RANGERS!

They were under the auspices of the Republic of Texas and were considered Para-military and did not form from a designated regiment.
