Military Police
Can anyone plese tell me what exactly the job is of an MP during combat? I know that MP's do 6 months on the streets and then six months in the field. However I have searched and was unable to find out exactly what the mission is of MPs during war. I have someone that states he is a COmbat MP and I want to understand what a "combat MP" is or what. I was always under the impression that MP's were wathching POWs and being guards. Any information would be a great help.
It's all good.

The primary role of MPs in wartime are Enemy POW Operations, Traffic Control, and convoy security. There are other duties such as LE and during periods of martial law and they can also conduct MOUT activities.
The 6 months on and off cycle sounds like it is specific to a particular unit mission.

very broadly speaking; rear area security.
(which in the present war, pretty much is the mission for everyone, so I'm speaking from the 90s FMs)

You'll have to come to Mendocino County, CA for that. Don't forget your 215 Card.
