GrowOrDie SITREP - *UPDATE*

Post by GrowOrDie »

Hello Rangers, DEPs and Newts,

Short sitrep, we're in week 6 here in Sand Hill. I'm on the ass end of a 4 hour pass. All is going well, I've lost about 40-45 lbs and I'm driving on toward a 65 lbs goal. PT is going well, we've qualified on our M16A4's.. I shot a 29 in Qual. I could've done better but didn't... Next time.

We did boxing today, I beat the shit out of the kid I was going against and broke his nose  . All our training is going pretty well and my platoon is squared the fuck away, as well is my Fire Team (i'm Fire Team Leader) so I've got no complaints.

We've got A.R.M's this week and we're duty squad so we'll be getting the chance to fire the MK19, .50 and all the other cool shit if we've got the Ammunition for it.

I'll be writing Ranger K. Ingraham so more sitreps will follow, just not much to talk about right now and I've got to be heading back to the barracks.

Drive On,
GorD Out.

Good to hear. Current duties kept me from being the mentor I wanted to be, but trust me when I say he was taken care of by Ranger K.Ingraham.

Should I have mentioned to him that it wasn't cool to take an Xbox and 200 porn DVDs to basic & suggesting he find a case of scotch for the DI wasn't a good idea on my part?

Hey, he was busting his butt before he left, I only needed to narrow his focus. Now that he sees the goal on the horizon - literaly, he's really stepping up to the challenge. His run times have melted.
Opt40 guys are quitting all around him just thinking about it, but every time GorD sees a tan beret in the distance, he just gets hungrier for his crack at RIP.
I've recieved a couple phone calls from him - he's loving the life.

And to give credit where it's due, my final assignment was for him to let me know what I should be stressing with my current mentee to make the next soldier even better, the mentee is mentoring the mentor.

Good deal, Kevin. Sure as Hell wish I had a mentor like you. The extent of guidance I got from my old boss was: "Give me a call when you graduate." Damn, I was proud when he pinned my tab.

Update for Week 9 36 Hour pass-

We turned Green today at 0945.. I can say it feels good to be a soldier but I've got some ways to go in front of me.

At current, my weight loss is averaging 5 lbs-8 lbs a week. I'm 2 weeks ahead of schedule and have lost 62 lbs. Hopefully i'll leave OSUT at a slim(for me) 235 or so. I'm loving it and the PT is getting easier for me.

I moved myself up an AGR group to stress that last PT test, while its getting easier I still suck and have to bust my ass to be remotely good. I can hang with them though.

Our training has been mostly push through the grinder type stuff up until recently when we started MOUT. I can honestly say there wasnt a better rush in all of training than running through a door to clear a room. Its good shit.

We've been doing random duties, some guys from my Platoon got to set up a new obstacle course for the RS and RIP courses.. I got to hear about it while I was setting up rooms for the shitbags who are Perm Party recycles.

5 weeks to go and onto Airborne then the big show. I'll try to keep everyone updated on my progress when we get the chance.

Thanks again Rangers, Driving on.

GorD Out.

Heres also a URL to some guys from my Platoon, i'm on the far bottom left corner kneeling

They pulled weeds, raked sand and dug ditches.

And all of a sudden they set up the whole fucking O-Course.
