everything but a Ranger contract

Post by navymech »

Well after a month of getting jerked around I'm back. They offered me a lot of jobs but said theres no chance you will get an OPT 40 contract theres just no spots open. They tried for 2 hours to get me to take a Patriot Missile Operator MOS to identify targets but I really didnt want that. They even tried to put me into intel. In the end I picked an 11x contract I ship out April 27th. I'm going to bust my ass to get into RIP eventually I plan on doing at least 16 years so I've got nothing but time. It's really fucked up how they treat prior service people like we are more worthless than little shits straight outa highschool. I even tried to get them to bust me down to E-3 to open something up but they said I have to go in as a specialist. I'm just glad to be able to serve and do my part. I'll just have to get in there and do everything I can and more.

Actually I only lost one paygrade since I'll be going in as a Specialist but I have a question on that. Do they look at Specialists as NCOs or as higher paid PFCs? Also do you go for Sergeant as a Specialist or do you have to be a Corporal first?

Ranger Tool, I did'nt get Airborne in my contract they told me some bullshit about having to strive for it since proir service don't really have anything to work for besides SGT. I told him thats a load of shit because they give everyone ABN I saw 3 women get it the first time I went to MEPS and they had supply MOSs. The last time I went up nobody got ABN in thier contract though. I don't know if they filled all thier projected slots or what but a lot of people tried for it. I wish i could have held out longer and tried to get it but a month was all I had and no slots opened up. I have no problem getting through training and going the paperwork route but any help with conections would be more than greatly appreciated.

Hey navymec I too am prior service and recently reenlisted. I was on active duty from 1989-92 and was in the Army. I also served in Operation Desert Shield and Storm. Anyway I was unable to get airborne or option40 all I could get was 11X. I am also shipping out on April 27th. I was an E4 when I got out and now I’m going back in as an E2. I will try and get into RIP or airborne when I get there. We might see each other there. I’ll be the old man I’m 34. Good Luck see you soon.
Then: 93F "Duty First" HHB DIVARTY 1st ID Metro Hobos

And Now: 11X
