Introduction

Post by That_Nate_Ranger »

Hi, my name is Nathan. I'm 19 years old, and finished my first semester of college for a mechanical engineering major. I was recently a depper for Army Reserve as a 96B. I was discharged from that contract because i finally realized i need to quit being a bitch and do what i really want to do... that the fancy degree and pulling down 6 digits a year isn't the dream for everyone. I've been weighing out all my options and have been referred to this site by an individual on military.com. I've been reading this site for a couple of weeks trying to get all the info i can. I'm heading back to MEPS tomorrow and will actually spend the night in a military sponsored hotel tonight. I am hoping to get the option 40 contract, and my recruiter has been pretty awesome with me through the last semester... he's been straight up with me, but sometimes i want to hear what guys that are actually there right now have to say about things; that is the reason i have created an account

LESSON #1: If an Option 40 is what you want, don't settle for anything less. Period. So it takes two visits to MEPS (or more)....big deal. It's like buying a car. Are you going to buy the car you dream about, or the one the salesman wants you to buy? It's really that black and white.

Good luck and welcome to the site.

Ranger Earthpig, lesson #1 accomplished. Didn't come simple, or all that easy; but i finally got ahold of a golden ticket. Charlotte MEPS was content on saying RIP was booked for the year... a few phone calls from my awesome recruiter, mentioned earlier, scored my contract which included the 11X/ABN/opt40. Ship out 30 march... wish it was tomorrow... but i'll take the time given to me to prepare.

Good deal Nate.

Now that your dick is hard over your contract, dont step on it.

Take advantage of the time available. Study, read the FAQs, talk to some of the other DEPs, and PT as much as possible. Be as prepared as is you can. When you are at Benning School for Boys there is no time to play catch up.
