Desert loving in your eyes all the way
If I listen to your lies would you say
I’m a man without conviction
I’m a man who doesn’t know
How to sell a contradiction
You come and go
You come and go

Karma karma karma karma karma chameleon
You come and go
You come and go
Loving would be easy if your colors were like my dream
Red, gold and green
Red, gold and green

Didn’t hear your wicked words every day
And you used to be so sweet I heard you say
That my love was an addiction
When we cling our love is strong
When you go you’re gone forever
You string along
You string along

Every day is like a survival
You’re my lover not my rival
Every day is like a survival
You’re my lover not my rival

I’m a man without conviction
I’m a man who doesn’t know
How to sell a contradication
You come and go
You come and go

Did you just post a Boy George song and get away w/ it?
I thought when us 1st Battalion Jump Masters assisted 3rd for their airborne insertion for your activation ARTEP in May 85 all you Rangers were singing "Jitterbug", by Wham, but I can see you men enjoying a good "Boy" song! 8)

Here's a bunch we sang every time we got on a truck...which pretty much meant every time we jumped (and that was a deuce and a half ride from Stewart to HAAF). Some of them have a long heritage before battalion. These are the lyrics as I remember them:

(to the tune of Sweet Betsy from Pike)

Battalion, battalion, a helluva place
The organization's a fucking disgrace
e-sixes and sevens and officers, too
Their thumbs up their asses and nothing to do

They stand on the corner, they scream and they shout
All about things they know nothing about
For all of their knowledge they all oughta be
Shoveling shit in the South China Sea

(Don't know the tune we stole for this one)

We're a bunch of bastards
Scum of the earth
Filth of creation
We're a bunch of masturbating sons of bitches

Found in every whorehouse
Drink, fight, and screw (mostly screw!)
We're the bastards of ________________(insert unit here)
And we say
Fuck
You!

The 1st Battalion Blues (sung to a blues tune)

Let it rain and let it pour
The colonel's wife is a nasty whore
And I've got them first battalion blues

Ain't no one to cry for me
Monday morning got battalion PT
And I've got them first battalion blues

Taboo

The first battalion crossed the line
Taboo, taboo
The first battalion crossed the line
Taboo, taboo
The first battalion crossed the line
They raped the women and drank the wine
Taboo, taboo, ta-bonaka, bonaka boo

They came upon a wayside in
taboo, etc, etc
The dirty bastards they walked right

The innkeeper, he had a daughter
taboo, etc, etc
With tits like a cow and a cunt like an otter

They tied her to the head of the bed
taboo, etc.
And fucked her 'til she was nearly dead

They took to the alley and then
taboo, etc.
They fucked her back to life again

(Slowly) And when she died she went to hell
taboo, etc
(Final line loud and strong)The Rangers fucked her twice as well!

My favorite marching cadence (Oh-lee-oh) contained several phrases that I don't think would pass muster these days,

"...a willie-peter in his sack
and an Airborne Ranger on his back.."

"The commie's eyes both pop out nice
The Ranger grins and starts to slice"

"I looked upon the freshly dead
and nailed my scroll into his head
The maggots eat their dead today
The scroll will sink in all the way"

I suppose I can (grudgingly) understand a possible aversion to glorifying actual war crimes in cadence.

I remember running through the 2nd brigade area 30 minuets before their PT formation singing

"I'd rather be a baby in the belly of a whore
Than to be a dirty leg in the two by four"

The old days are gone forever.
