That sparked my interest because I didin't know Army Rangers were still in Iraq, you never hear about them in the news.

That's because, unlike the Marines, photographers and PR folks are not TO&E to the squad, platoon, company, battalion, or regiment.

I am 22 years old college student and Marine Reservist. Still a junior in college (military training and deployment keeps cutting into college). Read BlackHawk Down in highschool and became interested in the military. Had plans for college but wanted to the joined the military too so I though it would be best to join the reserves. Thought about joining National Guard or Army Reserves, they had all these incentives and cash to pay for my college but I was not impress by the Army recruiters or the regular army, there didin't to be too much pride, and there seem to be a division between the Active Army, National Guard, and Army reserves.. My number reason for joining the military was for pride, a sense of belonging or the challenge. Marines gave me no money what so ever for school, but I still went the Marine route.The concept of everybody is a Marine,no difference between active and the reserve, and being one of the Few and the Proud appeal to me, so I enlisted.
Last year I found myself in Iraq with an active Marine unit(Marine Reservist are individually augmented to different active units when deploying to Iraq). Saw combat first hand during Operation Phantom Fury, Falluja November 2004. Even though being in the shit sucked at that time, I realized I love being a Marine and that being in the shit was exactly why i joined the military. So after I came back from my deployment, I promptly applied for Officer Candidate School this summer and hope to lead Marines into combat after I graduate from college.
I still have an interest with whats going over there, and look at the daily casaulties, hoping never to see someone I know. I saw that an Army Ranger was killed recently. That sparked my interest because I didin't know Army Rangers were still in Iraq, you never hear about them in the news.(Makes sense though, Spec Warriors are suppose to be lowkey). So I did a search on the subject and came to this site.
Sorry for the long story.

I am skeptical. Typical gyrene BS. Failed to mention how many Army troops supported their mission in Falluja. They talk about pride and then take unacceptable levels of dead and wounded. Something to feel pride about?

I decided not to join the Army because it has no pride, I joined the Marines instead, I am now going to become a Marine officer to continue to serve as a Marine, I love being a Marine, but I saw a Ranger was killed so I thought I would come post here.
