FNG Intro
Hello Rangers, my name is Allen. I'm 21 years old and shipping to Basic January 12th. I have one semester of college under my belt, and plenty of dead-end jobs, too. I felt the higher calling a few months ago, and was seriously considering joining the Marines. The old "Few, Proud, Marines" glorified image soon faded, and I decided on the Army. And I don't want to be just 'in the Army'. I want to BE Army. I want to be a Ranger. God must've steered me towards the Army, because I just found out at a trip to MEPS that the Army is the only branch that accepts homeschool graduates as Tier 1! Well, I got my contract (11x, Option 40), and I'm getting more excited every day. Looking through this forum and hearing all of your stories is really whetting my appetite. Hopefully by this time next year you'll be referring to me as 'RANGER Allen'! Thanks for letting me be a part of this. BTW, one of my pastors here in Galveston was a Ranger back in the day, and he just got called back to Afghanistan as a Reserve Chaplain. One badass dude, real squared away.

Welcome Allen.
You need to be aware of the fact that being a Ranger is something earned. It's not something that is given to you.
Use the search button and read everything you possibly can on this site to help guide you in the right direction. Follow the site rules and listen to the DEP's that have earned their keep here.
A big head will get you nowhere.

To Ranger Table of Elements Skater: I am not DEP that I know of, I just signed my contract the other day. Does this constitute being in the Delayed Entry Program? And thanks, I just picked me one beautiful Avatar.
To Goog: His name is Rev. J. Clay Thomas of Galveston Bible Church. He's a native of North Carolina but has served as Pastor for 18 years in Texas. I don't know if that helps much; sorry, I'm not sure when he served. All I know is that he is a proud Ranger, and I give the utmost respect to him.
To Ranger AbnRgr289: I fully understand that the Ranger tab is earned. I don't expect and/or want to be given the title. I'm kind of stuck between being modest and humble and being confident. I'm not sure which attitude would serve me and the Army better. And trust me, this forum has been a HUGE help; it's a pool of resources I wish I had found a long time ago.

1) T.O.E.S. isn't a Ranger. Look above his avatar and below his name for one. Then look at his sig-line, 18x is his contract and 11Jul2006 is his ship date. He's a DEP and a good one.dammema wrote:To Ranger Table of Elements Skater: I am not DEP that I know of, I just signed my contract the other day. 2) Being "Tabbed" is only a small part of being a Ranger. And confidence is a must, but you have to realize the depth of the road you have chosen.
Many men have failed for one reason or another.

Number 1: Just asking, I am sure someone on here including me will want to verify him. Please notify him of our desire to do so.
Number two: Son, nobody is shooting at you. relax, you had it right at 1st.
Number 3: I hope you are telling "Us" the truth.
To echo AbnRgr289's comment; remeber the Tab is just a school the scroll is a way of life. There are plenty of Rangers without the TAB.
