Question: Split ops and opt 40

I am 17, a junior in high school. I recently spoke to a recruiter, and he informed that I could enlist in the Guard my junior summer, go to basic between junior and senior years, graduate, then go active after AIT and get a new contract with the Ranger option in it. I trust my recruiter, but this whole signing something without the Ranger option on it has me thinking. Is this entirely accurate? Has anyone else gone this route? I've never heard of something like this, and just want to be sure I'm not signing something I'll regret. All help/advice is greatly appreciated.

As the Rangers, Veterans, and DEP's have posted: If you want Option 40 on your contract DO NOT SIGN unless it states so on your contract. Your recruiter isn't the one who gives you your MoS, the counselor at the MEPS does.
