soft skill MOS's in combat??
soft skill MOS's in combat??
Is it true that even if you have a soft skill MOS, in a BATT you will still see combat? I have Chemical ops specialist as an Airborne Ranger in my contract. I was just wondering my chance of getting in the shit....thanks

Let me shed a prespective here cerrone2. Now I say this with hind sight which has a clairty of a crytal ball . Alot of people join the military for alot of different reasons and yes some do join yerning to see combat , kick someother countries 3rd world ass and so forth. Now I am not going to speak for all of my borthers here because I am not them even though we share a unique common bond of having served as a Ranger.
be that as is may do not join a Ranger Bat. lusting for combat because you may never see it. there are some people who have served in a Ranger Bat and never were deployed into combat. it all depends on timing when you join whats going on in the world so forth and so on.
Except the challenge and the endevor in becoming a RANGER and serving in a Ranger Bat. because you want to be part of the BEST Infantry unit the army as to offer. Do it because inside you are a warrior and thrive on challenge and becoming the best. DO NOT do it merely based on the fact of seeing combat , because you won't servive the daily rigors or training and more training if all you seek is seeing combat.

To answer your question
Cerrone,
I was reading the posts on this particular topic and my wife looked over at me and asked why I was smiling :) . The reason is b/c my brothers-in-arms are some pretty witty guys! For you and every other "kid" that comes on this website and asks a dumb question and catches some sort of smoke for it, you have to understand that the answers you get are all part in parcel of being a new guy that hasn't a clue.
Despite the aggression we all often display, every post is somewhat of an attempt to square away someone who desperately needs it, sarcasm included!
As an NBC guy in a Bn. it is my estimation that you will get deployed for combat when your company gets deployed. As far as seeing combat, the answers you got above are probably the best you are going to get. Try an remember something, you are going to have a specialty that is far and few between, probably no more than 3-4 per Bn. You will also be assigned to the company HQ plt., so what they do with you during combat operations will depend a lot on the mission.
