Post by Dan Dumbass »

Well, since we 'blocked' our PC's back in the day, that guy would've looked like a total geek. I don't recall ever seeing any Ranger posters when I enlisted....but then, that's not what drove me to join.

Did the Rangers ever wear their tab on their cap like the one in the poster?

Hoover,
In the old days (yes there was once a time in the history of the Army), before the "battalions" existed, we wore the black & gold tabs on the patrolling caps. Of course, the uniform called for baseball hats.

we still wear Stetsons and spurs, unless someone who outranks our highers on site fuckin strokes out about our "unauthorized Goddamned headgear, get that off! what is your problem CW4 ******? you should be more professional than that, and set the right example for those younger Warrants and NCOs!"

and, "I was Sir." is appearently not the appropriate response when said stroke victim happens to be a Shithook, full bird, AVN BDE CDR, who has to live next to 2-17 Cav as you pass through Cambell for gas...

not real sure how he liked the squirrel under his HMMWV seat that his driver forgot to secure that Friday afternoon either.

ummm, ah... oh... within the Statute of limitations.... '00-'01-ish :D :D

159th CDR, at his office next to 2-17...

he was all kinds of pissed. bunch of us in the van watching him give my PC O a ration of shit for wearing it, really looked like he was gunna stroke out when he found out my guy had no other headgear on him as he stood there bareheaded at a damn rigid position of attention.

I got that poster. Mine says "From Normandy to Grenada Rangers Lead The Way", at the bottom.
"We spoke to them in the only language they understood - the machine gun."
