I have been researching WOCS and have decided this is the route I'd like to take in my Army career. I scored a 109 on the GT so I would have to retake my ASVAB but thats too easy, no big deal. My problem is with the recruiter. The station commander told me that to be selected you needed atleast 500 hours of civillian flight training, is this true or is he bullshitting me to meet the numbers game? I happen to think he is BS'ing me due to the fact that he originally said there was no way you could goto WOCS straight from Basic and be a pilot. Then I asked him why they had the hooah hooah brochure for it out front if it wasn't an option and he then told me about the 500 hours to be selected and such.
Also when I asked him about 18x, he immediately started trying to tell me about just seeing an SF recruiter from Airborne and signing an 11x/ABN contract instead.
Thank you for your time, service, and guidance.

You also need to be an SF NCO with several years of experience on a team before you can put a packet in to go SF Warrant. Trust me, you have absolutely no chance of becoming an SF Warrant off the street. It's not going to happen. You can't become top dog until you've spent some time on the bottom of the pile.

Re: A question about WOCS/18x and a sitrep
You'll be taking the tape tests for long time, stud.GrowOrDie wrote:I have a question about the MOS 180A and the career path to that specific MOS. As well, I'd like to give a sitrep on my current situation and battle against my bodyfat.
I went back into the Army Recruiting depot today to start some paperwork and find out how much further I have to go to reach my goals with my bodyfat issue. I'm currently .64% away from being allowed in the DEP program and I hope to lose that before next thursday so i'll tape out and goto MEPs for what I hope to be my final tape test.
My question pertains to both an 18x contract and a Warrant Officer contract. I'd been interested in both and last night I found out that Warrant Officers are second in command of an SF team and became interested in the position. I've searched but can't find my answer on the boards. Is the exact career path for the 180A MOS OSUT, WOCS, SOPC, etc? Or should I enlist 18x then attempt to goto WOCS later in my career?
Thank you for your time, service, and guidance.

All 180's are enlisted SF Soldiers first. I becoming a 180 is your goal, then 18X is a feasible route to get there.
You can't get there staright off the street
