I had the pleasure of drinking some brews and eating some chow with Joe (O'Doherty) earlier this evening. He's good people and I know he'll do us all proud. Special kudos to Kilted Heathen for all of the help that he gave to Joe in getting squared away (I know, shut the fuck up.)

Joe, keep us posted and good luck.

I was lucky enough to meet Ranger IntelToad and hear alot of great stories and advice. I wanted to pass along to all the other DEPs how much it made me realize what an amazing opportunity we have to be able to go in and have these kinds of experiences. Anyone of us DEPs who blows the chance to go have those kinds of adventures in our lives strikes me as a complete idiot!

I will be sure to keep things updated as much as possible Rangers. I'm not going to screw things up after the great help I've had getting ready for this.

Now I'm more anxious than ever to ship out. Can't wait for next Thursday!

Well, try to avoid the results of my stories (most of which involved strippers and Old Milwaukee,) keep your mouth shut, ears open and you'll do fine.

DirtyLeg, you should have read the entire thread. Bottom line here is that O'Doherty enlisted. Kilted Heathen and others gave him detailed advice on how to enlist and at the same time expedite his citizenship request. When all else fails, read the instructions!

Suprisingly enough, we "Illegal Immigrants" can do all kinds of things... We're sneaky like that! It was more a case of realizing that after years of letting you Americans play around doing it your own way, its about time we British came back in and sorted you all out again. :D Which requires a social security #. So there you have it...

Also, you get a social security #, pay taxes, can enlist in the military, all those good things when you become a permanent resident.

A little word of advice from another cherry. Don't joke or speak out of parade rest to a Ranger unless you have the proper qualifications to. I have learned this the hard way by trying to be more than a cadet and it didn't turn out so good. Another thing, please don't talk about America the way you just did.

I have nothing but the greatest of love and patriotism for the United States which I now consider my home in every way and I do my best to do my part for the country. I take offense when anyone implies that I do anything less (ie Illegal Immigrant). I replied jokingly in an attempt to lighten the situation and avoid disrespecting a member of the Army (DirtyLeg) by arguing with him. I realize that in doing so I disrespected everyone on here.
My comment was meant as a complete joke, but I realize that it was stupid and disrespectful. My sincerest apologies.
