SITREP from Barrett88 (RANGER)

Post by Barrett88 »

Well so far OSUT has been going pretty great. We are now on our 36 hour pass and are graduating on October 7. This week has been all MOUT training which was pretty cool, clearing this one house on Buchanon was pretty awesome but it got frustrating at times. It seemed like it was one big cluster fuck going into the house because most people didnt know exactly what to do. Thats what most of the training is like though. I think the training you receive while in OSUT is all in what you make it. If you refuse to let your morale go down and try your hardest it seems as though the training is flying by.So far I'm loving it. I've scored a 321 and a 327 on the last two PT tests and received a coin from the Lieutenant Colonel which was pretty cool. I've been receiving letters from Mark5105 and he is also doing very well in OSUT so far. To all the DEPs or recruits about to leave, try your hardest and have fun while giving the due respect to the Drill SGTs. Training is all in what you make of it. I'll be posting again after graduation seeing as I'll probably be in airborne hold for a while. The site is awesome as always, still alot of great info to learn from.

You'll find that building clearing (real deal) is always a cluster-fuck. It NEVER goes down as planned. The secret is being able to unfuck the situation and complete the mission without casualties. It will all come with training and practice.

Sounds like you're kicking ass in several ways. Keep up the excellent work and don't lose your focus/drive. Best of luck to you.
