Spoke with both of my Ranger Buddies who live in NO over the weekend. Both exfilled prior to the storm and are safe. Both have lost thier homes to the flooding. Both are, or soon will be, in the Baton Rouge area. One is in a small, one redlight town north of Baton Rouge, almost 2 hrs from NO, and he has told me of people looting the stores THAT far north. I find it telling that there are multiple shelters where displaced people can get free food, but yet they still loot.

Wow, thanks Rangers (oilpatch stands there like the kid who caught Mean Joe's jersey in that commercial) and other board members!
Your Go's, attaboys, and well-wishing helped me through a tough couple of days of uncertainty.
We were allowed into Metairie (Jefferson Parish) today to check on our stuff, but not to stay.
Only damage/flooding was to my parents' house, which has an 18in high water mark inside. It stinks just like that black mud that churns up when you take your first step into a bayou.
No injuries either.
But the tempo of "riot control ops", ie, keeping my parents from killing each other, is starting to wear me down.
I'm going to be a little busy to write anoother "article" just now, BUT if anybody has a question or needs some local intel, particlularly if you're inbound or already here, just fire away and I'll handle it directly. PMs are OK too.
Thanks again Rangers.
