Welcome Texan. Second intro...better.
What school outside of Dallas? What position, middy, attack, dee, goal...I played for years. coach it some now.
That thing you said about joining being " a chance to show your patriotism"....Im sure is correct. Show who? Strange as it may sound, all those people who have those magnetic bows on their cars who..."support the troops" are showing patriotism of a sort. Not much but it's a start. And being a Ranger....Im always amazed at young epoeple who come on here and are "studying" the possibility of being a Ranger like its an academic pursuit. Personally, I knew it the second I saw it and nothing could have thrown me off track. So....young man.....decide if you want the unmitigated mysery, the sore muscles, lack of food, training that makes grown men cry, and of every 100 men that sign up, less than 30 get anywhere close. Good luck to you and from 1 Texan to another....if you decide to go for it....you had better make it.

I'm not the way I am because I was a Ranger - I was a Ranger because of the way I am.

Trinity High School is where I attend. It was built to be a college, but upon its completion several years later, it was too small for even a community college, so it was transformed into a 5A high school. Now it is a very open and clean campus with a college feel.
I played starting attack on my JV team last year because it was my first time to play. This year, I will be on the varsity team and I hope to play attack, but depending on how inept our middie lines continue to be, I may have to switch up with them to help ball possession. We are getting a new coach this year, so I hope things go well.
Now that you mention it Ranger Abell9, it sounds cliche for me to say "show my patriotism", so thinking about it, I suppose I mean to tell my fellow ignorant liberal students to shove it while I go fight for their liberties. (Hypothetical, and assuming I follow through with my post-high school plans)
"Personally, I knew it the second I saw it and nothing could have thrown me off track." I have been finding myself hovering over this mindset for weeks now and I am inspired by your assuredness.
"So....young man.....decide if you want the unmitigated mysery, the sore muscles, lack of food, training that makes grown men cry, and of every 100 men that sign up, less than 30 get anywhere close." I can't even pretend to say that I am prepared for this physically, emotionally, or mentally. I am in awe of yourself, Ranger Abell9, and the other Rangers that have driven themselves to the impossible limits that I honestly wish to push myself towards and never quit driving.
If I decide to go for this, there is no way I will quit, even if I am not good enough for the Army Rangers. If I fail out it will not be from lack of trying. Thank you Ranger Abell9 for your questions and interests and thank you for the example you are setting for me and others whether it be intentional or not.

So, aside from all the pleasant stuff....sounds like your azimuth is set and you have an almost idea of what you are going to do. So, .....do it. Need help, have questions....ask them.
As for Lacrosse, played at a Military Academy in Virginia, made ALL Virginia as an Attackman Junior Year, same as a middy senior year. Played club for many years wherever I could, Fucking Lacrosse ROCKS. Miss the shit out of that.
Drive on.
