Security clearance and past
Security clearance and past
I have tried to read every thread on this but I am looking for insight into my chances for passing security clearance.
I have no criminal record, but I used to smoke marijuana on a frequent basis for two years about 3 years ago while in college and high school. I stopped cold one day and never looked back. It was a huge mistake in my life and I wish I could erase it.
I am not going to hide anything and will disclose everything, but I am extremely worried that I won't get clearance. All the threads I read had "experimentation" as 1 or 2 times and hence it seemed likely they would make it through, but 3-4 times a week for 2 years goes beyond experimenation in my case.
I'm just looking for some answers on my chances. I want this bad.
Thanks for all your help Rangers.

Be honest or you will get busted.Silverback wrote:Answer the question honestly....10 years from now when your conducting a "Periodic review" of your clearance you better answer the EXACT same way
Pot usage is minor. As long as you weren't selling to grade schoolers you'll probably be okay.

Huge mistake ? What, quitting ?I stopped cold one day and never looked back. It was a huge mistake in my life and I wish I could erase it.
Just be completely honest and you'll be fine.
Then knock out 50 for repeating the same question asked every week by crackhead DEPs on these boards.

Smoking doobies while weighing in at MEPS.It seems I should be alright, but it is still nerve racking. At what point would they disqualify you for drug use?
Shouldn't you be following Phish someplace ??
MMMMM, Phish broke up last year.

As everyone else said just be honest. I remember about 6 months after I got mine, I went home on leave and ran into my high school English teacher in a store and after the hellos were done that first thing he said was "So did you get it?" I as like"What?" he said "Your Clearance. Some guy in a suit was here months back and talked to me anda few of your other teachers, he said you had applied for a security clearanceand he was doing a background investigation." So yes be honest, if you lie about something they will find out. By the way sealed records from when you were a minor, aren't!
Good Luck.
