The woman in the burk ha then asked the cashier when she was
going to stop bombing her countrymen, explaining that she was Iraqi.
A gentleman standing behind my son stepped forward, putting his
arm around my son's shoulders, and nodding towards my son, said in a calm and gentle voice to the Iraqi woman: "Lady, hundreds of thousands of men and women like this young man have fought and died so that YOU could stand here, in MY country and accuse a check-out cashier of bombing YOUR countrymen. It is my belief that had you been this outspoken in YOUR own country, we wouldn't need to be there today. But, hey, if you have now learned how to speak out so loudly and clearly, I'll gladly buy you a ticket and pay your way back to Iraq so you can straighten out the mess in YOUR country that you are obviously here in MY country to avoid."

Everyone within hearing distance cheered.

Interesting story...most Iraqis I've met are incredibly happy that the US ousted Saddam Hussein. Most are incredibly unhappy with the current situation here in Iraq. Most feel that the one single thing Saddam did well was maintain security. Most actually like Americans. Most want the US to stay in Iraq...at least until they can self-secure and self-govern.

Iraqi women are not outspoken in public. If this story is true...she probably wasn't a true Iraqi import.

I had questions on the burga being in Iraq. Anyway I think your response Wade is excelent.

In my experience with Iraqi women, though admittedly limited compared to some of our senior members on this board, the women definately are not outspoken. The last one I saw had to walk five feet behind her husband and was not allowed to be referred to unless her husband gave permission. I respect other cultures and countries, that is the duty of a soldier; we don't get the luxury of politics. At the same time, I don't see a woman that has anytime recently joined the US saying such things. However, good story, good morale boost.

The men who are dicks in Iraq to our soldiers are the reason our SGT's feed the Pork Jumbalaya MRE to their families. Quid Pro Quo.

Most of the younger women I see wear fairly fashionable clothing with or without a head scarf thingee (whatever those things are called).

RANGER Wade,I suppose it just depends where you are in Iraq. I know that at Camp Bucca where the etainee prisons are that weapon arent even allowed to look a man in the face. Then again last time we were there was a few months back and it was near the elections.

How do I just know that those are gonna get edited for Opsec? (gets down and knocks out 51+2)

I'll tell you one thing not to do though. Do NOT under any circumstance, nomatter how nice it may seem to us "Infidels", offer a mans wife in Iraq a dip of Copenhagen. Apparently...thats offensive....
