Basketball has nothing in common with being a qualified paratrooper. You just needed an excuse not to join and made this comparasion to avoid further questions. I played basketball myself before going in the military. Got sprained ankles, knees and bashed up tendons on a few fingers to boot. Yet these same injuries never interfered with me firing a weapon, communicating on a radio or humpin the boonies in days gone by. Excuses are necessary for those that can't or won't cut the mustard. It is a mental crutch to say the least you have given yourself. I think there is nothing for you here on this site and you should just keep on going until you find a place you can call home because this site is not for you.

Keep on moving kiddo, this site can never be your home. Your excuse is your home.

Ranger Steadfast - I appreciate your candor and again, I have to say that I've never had anything but respect for the men in the SF community.

That being said, at 28 I walk with a limp. When the weather changes I can feel it in my joints and half the time I end up having to stay off my feet they hurt so bad. I never intended to make this forum my home, and I'm glad that youre the kind of person I can rely on to defend my freedom.

I didnt join the forces because I knew that I wouldnt be able to put out as much as the next guy with me, and I wasnt going to risk the lives of the men in my unit because of my own problems. Thank you for stepping up for me in my place. I'll be here on the home front supporting guys like you.

You don't get it! All that matters is how much you want it!! Excuses are for those who live by the two words..."I can't!". Pain is manageable! I tore up my right ankle and both knees have patella-femural pain syndrome because I didn't take care of the sprains while I was in the service. I did not get out on a medical discharge. I fulfilled my duty. It has taken a long time to heal to where I can apply to re-enter the service and I am in the process of doing so now. What it boils down to is how much is it worth to you to serve your country. I am giving up the security of a monthly guaranteed check for the rest of my life for the ooportunity to get back into the service. What would you be giving up?
