DEP question

Post by CheeseDick »

My counselor at MEPS told me that if I changed my mind about Option 40 then when I went back to MEPS before I shipped, I could just tell him that I had changed my mind and he would "take Option 40 off my contract". Is this true? For some reason that sounds too easy.

I haven't changed my mind about being a Ranger, I was just curious if this was actually possible.

Thanks for any useful advice

Don't you listen these old meany pants peoples.

Unfortunately the MEPS counseler lied. Once you signed up you have no choice but to complete Airborne School and RIP. If you don't pass the first time, the will keep recycling you until you finally pass, or die on a jump.

If you manage to survive and get sent to the Ranger Regiment, you will be showered with rewards and praise by all your new buddies. Expect a lot of free time once you make it, as our dirty little secret is that we are better at poguing out than anyone in the military!

The Rangers on this site have devoted countless hours to informing young MEN on how to obtain an option 40. The have mentored DEPs through the process and have seen a great number succeed in meeting their goal of becoming an Army Ranger. Why, in the HELL would they be interested in giving information on "quitting" an option 40???
Go back and look at how stupid that question really was...
