I have a couple of points/remarks:
1- If you're already in, why did you post in the DEPs section?
2- I don't think that you could get Opt 40 after your time in. You'd be considered prior service. I hope I'm wrong, and SFC Hit_it can correct me (I'll push for whatever number he decides :) )

Good luck to you.
You might not be able to get a OPT40 but you'll be able to get Airborne School and from there get the opportunity to hollar at the Ranger Liaison who will make his rounds in the AO, depending on what MOS he selects he'll have just as good of a chance gettin a slot that way.

Welcome and good luck. Curious as to whether or not you know the answer to RRDTm3's question though. I never heard of a Coast Guard dude, doin spec ops or gettin a Ranger slot (but I'm sure a couple have gotten in I guess)

Thank you for all the welcomes! I thought the other intro was for rangers and family only, but if someone wishes to move it there I have no problem with that. I have talked a couple recruiters and no one seems to know how it would be handled. Most of them thought I would be able to get a opt 40 since I would have to be getting a new mos since you don’t have boatswains mate’s and I don’t want to take care of boats my whole life. As Ranger Everett was saying we aren’t in the DOD but we just moved to the Dept of Homeland Security a couple years ago so we aren’t in the DOT anymore. The general consensus is that I would keep my pay grade, sec clearances and what not but just go to the new schools after boot camp. I was hoping SFC Hit_It might be able to shed some light on it sense everyone I’ve talked to so far just kinda go in circles and never call me back.

Ranger RRDTm3 I don’t know him personally but I can try to look up his email and see if anyone I know knows him.

Welcome.

You get a DD214 when you get out just like we do. You are Prior Service.

Ranger Bugsy gave great advice. Follow it when you seperate from the CG.
