How to prepare for RIP while deployed during OIF
Rangers, I am deployed as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom 111 what can I do to prepare for RIP other than the usual PT session? It is suppose to reach temps of 120 degrees out here in a few months, so out door physical training will be out. At the present I am going to gym 5 days a week; I plan to load up a ruck and get on the treadmill. Rangers, any advice would be appreciated.

Ok..In my opinion you shold run as often as you can. Moderate exercise will assist your aclimitization process. You should also be VERY aware of the signs and symotoms of heat illness and mitigate all risk involved (IE: Dehydration). WIth that said the main factor deciding whether or not you can excute PT is your location and uniform restrictions placed upong by your chain of command. Do whatever you can as often as you are allowed. DO NOT GET A CLIMATIC INJURY!astudent wrote:Rangers, I am deployed as a part of Operation Iraqi Freedom 111 what can I do to prepare for RIP other than the usual PT session? astudent,
Greetings. I hope all is well in the Rock Support battalion.
I just saw this thread since you came back on the net, I wasn't on the site when you first posted. If I was, I would have reminded you that your current unit needs you.
Anyone else on here telling you your unit is fucking you over must not have caught the timing of that.
That said, I think you're doing the right thing now. Do your best in your current job, put your request in, and soldier on. You seem like a pretty motivated guy. I hope good things happen for you.
And, BTW, I am praying for you. Come home safe, Sledgehammer.

To post something that says your unit, that is headed back to a combat zone is screwing you by not letting you go to another unit with about a month to go before they're wheels up is--was--well, a little misguided (being nice there). You're a critical guy in your unit. What would you expect your CSM to say, "Sure, go ahead, best of luck. We'll go short-handed, no sweat?" I know if it was me, I'd sign it, and RECOMMEND DISAPPROVAL. What else could I do when I'm getting on a plane in a couple of weeks? Besides, you were at stop loss anyway. On 30 NOV you wrote:My situation is that my unit HHB 1-10 FA is due to deploy for Iraq in Jan 05. My unit wants to make me the supply SGT for our unit over in Iraq. A Ranger who got sent to my unit from 3rd Bn told me go for it, but our SGM said he will delete all 4187s and that everyone is going to Iraq.
