Yes, we were camping. I grew up in the wilderness - mostly the desert southwest. I camp, backpack, wander aimlessly, etc every chance I get.

The ruins are Anasazi and I didn't explore inside any of them. They've been there a long time and I didn't want to disturb them.

I well understand. I didn't mean to say that anyone should go poking around in them. It just seems like the picture of "Paul Bunyans potty" make it appear that you can go right up to the ruins for closer inspection. Having seen the Mesa Verde ruins myself, I appreciate the concern for leaving them just as they are.
