No, Sir was going to be a 98J but just got picked up to 153A on the January board.
Nice job, Congratulations. Very cool field to work in.

My wife wants to be a 153A as well, she is putting a packet in now. She missed the Jan board because her eyesight is .5 diopters outside the margins. She is looking into a waiver or worst case PRK.

some advice LT

Post by K.Ingraham »

but first, welcome. You came to the right place, as a sharp MI guy I know you've already templated the battlefield.
I note that you're heading to RS at age 34 from civvie (sort of) life. As one who also played on both sides of the house, I can appreciate what you're trying to do. My former reserve unit, the extinct 11 SFGA, had the occasional RS slot & those who went usually failed early on. And these weren't slackers, they simply were up to the very dramatic culture (& otherwise) shock of going from the block right into Darby.
If your unit can get the slot GO TO THE NG PRE RANGER COURSE.
Someone from the cadre is a regular here, although I don't remember his name, maybe he'll contact you direct if he sees this.
Anyway, for the advice from a nosy SOB: If you think you're in shape, get more so. The issue here is the fact that you're 34. You might be as strong & swift as when you were 19 but at 34, you don't recuparate as quick or as completely in the few hours of rest you'll get. Thats largely what beat the 11th gp troops. Whatever your bod has is going to have to carry you all the way through.
Since you already did SFAS, you have a real good idea of what I'm on about.
Good luck & report back as soon as you earn that tab!
