SITREP - Aaron

Post by Apkaz »

Just a quick little update while I have time. I graduated basic on 20130606 and I arrived at my AIT the following day, which is where I am right now. Basic was....not what I expected to say the least. It wasn't hard, it was just aggravating due to the amount of shitbags you had to deal with. I did learn a lot about myself through the experience and how to work with people you don't like which is essential for my MOS. AIT has been good so far, a lot more freedom and responsibility which is great. I volunteered for Airborne along with half my platoon  Also, a Ranger Regiment is coming next week to brief us and then the following day they are having a PT assessment and interviews. I will definitely be attending. Any tips though? Besides be on time, good/clean uniform and right attitude.

Roger that Ranger Jim. I've been soaking up the summer rays over here in AZ haha. It's been a steady 95+ everyday here so far..only to get hotter as the summer progresses. We had the brief from the Ranger Regiment today from a CSM and a First Srgt. who is a 35F as well. Tomorrow is the big day, PT test and interviews with selection to go to RASP right after. I will let you know how everything goes. Rangers lead the way.

I have been selected to attend RASP after AIT & Airborne ! Started off with about 40 of us give or take, cut us down to around 20 right after the PT test. Then we had a little logic test to complete within 30 mins. After that, we had interviews with the 1SG. and a specialist from the Regiment. The final cut brought us down to 13. Very proud moment, I'm so ecstatic and still haven't really comprehended it yet. This is the opportunity I have dreamed about for months/years. Now that I have my foot in the door it's time to show up and prove to myself and everyone that I have what it takes to become a Ranger in the 75th. Thank you Ranger's for the support, advice and encouragement. I will continue to keep you guys updated ! Rangers Lead The Way !

Brief update

I'm over half-way through the course now, roughly 6 weeks left. We just finished taking the hardest exam of the entire course and I got a perfect score on it ! Only one in the entire platoon of about 165. I've been slacking on PT though..scored a 266 last week. I've been caught up in studying and what not, but now that its all downhill from here PT will be my main focus. We had our levy brief this morning as well, I should get my official orders and what not in about 2 weeks. That's really about it..getting pretty tired of TRADOC and all the BS that goes with it but I know it will all be worth it in the end. RLTW.

Excellent SITREP. It won't be long until you get back to Benning School for Boys. Have you memorized the Ranger Creed? Never, never quit!

I have yet to go to Ft. Benning Ranger Jim but I look forward to it ! Yes I have memorized the Ranger Creed, started reciting it before I left for basic and I try to recite it at least once every night.

Thank you Ma'am and I will definitely keep that in mind.

Well, I graduated AIT as of yesterday 03 OCT. It was a long 4 months but another goal accomplished. I was PG for the last month and a half with about 160 soldiers in my platoon..it was pretty stressful to say the least but, it gave me some good experience in a leadership role. My PSG's are telling me I'll be a hold over here for at least 2 weeks before I leave for RASP so until then I'm just going to focus on PT. I will post another SITREP once I find out my exact ship date to FT. Benning. RLTW

Leaving Ft. Huachuca tonight ! I'll be in Fort Benning tomorrow afternoon. From my understanding I'm most likely going to miss the next RASP class which starts up in a few days. Either way I'm just glad I'm out of here and moving on.

I got lucky and classed up with everyone last week. So far so good, we got a warm welcome from the Cadre  and Ive met some people on here in person, elgecko is one. Pretty cool how we talked to each other on here before we even shipped off for basic training and now we're in the same RASP class. I will keep you Rangers updated as we progress, just taking one day at a time for now.
