Oakley. SI boot isn't quite as nice as the "signature" military boot. I'm wearing SI boots all the time. No break-in required (12 miler the day I purchased), tough, flexible and good for a wide range of temp (wore mine the whole tour in AFG).

I love my Adidas GSG9 boots. Feel like running shoes, and are light. Wear them to work every day for patrol and SWAT functions. Around $150.

I've been rocking the Nike boots for a couple of years now - I think you have to order them directly from the website for ~$135. I used them for PT shoes during my last trip to Iraq. Yes, IMO, they are that good. And they weigh less than my New Balance running shoes.

Re: Military Boots
For black boots I recommend Haix version of the GSG9. I've had a pair I wear for work for the last year, great for running around after people or walking a beat. Light weight, waterproof, and your feet don't drown in sweat in the summertime.
And I'll second the oakley's for day to day use for the brown boots. I've got a pair that I bought in '07 for an Iraq deployment that I still wear around.

Re: Military Boots
You're right about support - they're modeled after the Nike "free" sole which follows in the barefoot running concept. They hold up really well if you can learn to live with them, and I am pretty hard on my boots.Richard Cranium wrote:I tried those Nike boots out for a couple of hours when one of my NCO's got a new pair in. They did feel awesome, just didn't seem to be enough support for my feet?
How do they hold up to rucking and rough terrain?

Funny, I just picked up some Ariat cobalts, and I really like them, with about a one day break in. But I don't think that's what you are looking for either.
