How about a short synopsis of the bill and what it is you object to specifically. That way the rest of us can decide whether or not we want to devote time wading through the entire bill.

Re: house bill 4269-TELL CONGRESS NO!
the bill is to shut down live tissue medical training in the military. someone in congress thinks that mannequins and robots (and yes i will admit they are VERY advanced and can duplicate SOME procedures) can replace live tissue for combat trauma training. they cannot. we have tested several models here already and while i admit they can duplicate SOME things, they cannot account for things like, will to live, patient fighting you, posturing, the feel of live tissue, knowing that you have resolved things that could easily kill a person, etc. i dont want to get into too much detail about our procedures due to this being an open forum but suffice to say that thanks to having live tissue to work on i now feel 100% confident i can stop arterial bleeding, treat a hemo/pneumo thorax, bring a patient back to life, give emergency airways, etc because i've already done it. this bill will stop all that.

OK I'm in sympathy with your concerns. Now after you've tackled this hurdle, engage in some grammatical self-respect and use capital letters where they ought to be. Show some respect for the language (and for the board). People will take you more seriously that way.

RGR got it. The 'live tissue debate' is not open to debate. I've had too many friends / roomates / co-workers who are advocates of it to not support live tissue labs. It takes a toll on everyone, but there's a reason that it's done the way it is.whocares175 wrote:the bill is to shut down live tissue medical training in the military. someone in congress thinks that mannequins and robots (and yes i will admit they are VERY advanced and can duplicate SOME procedures) can replace live tissue for combat trauma training. they cannot. we have tested several models here already and while i admit they can duplicate SOME things, they cannot account for things like, will to live, patient fighting you, posturing, the feel of live tissue, knowing that you have resolved things that could easily kill a person, etc. i dont want to get into too much detail about our procedures due to this being an open forum but suffice to say that thanks to having live tissue to work on i now feel 100% confident i can stop arterial bleeding, treat a hemo/pneumo thorax, bring a patient back to life, give emergency airways, etc because i've already done it. this bill will stop all that.

seriously? you're going to try and give a language arts class? frankly i dont care if you dont like my spelling. I do know correct grammar and yes, when I'm writing to people such as Senator McCain, like I just got done doing, I'll use capitals, correct punctuation, etc. however, when i'm simply trying to get my point across quickly i dont. my experience speaks for itself and just like you, deserves respect. so please, lets focus on the task at hand, trying to keep live tissue training in the military so soldiers aren't losing their lives needlessly.hobbit wrote: engage in some grammatical self-respect and use capital letters where they ought to be. Re: house bill 4269-TELL CONGRESS NO!
It’s only five pages! Whocares175’s summation means more to me than the text of the bill. I’m interested in hearing Pros/Cons from other DOC types on what this would mean for trauma care and if it would make a real difference on the battlefield.
