Combatives Wikipedia articles

Post by EvilCouch »

Here's a little something I put together over the weekend. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_Army_Combatives_School
This page is fairly handy, too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Combatives

They don't go into huge amounts of detail. That's what FM 21-150 is for. But, if you were looking for a good summary of what modern Army Combatives is about, there you go.

I don't think Matt Larsen has had time to give it a thorough read yet, but he's told me it "looks pretty damned good" and I don't think I can get better praise than that.

Pretty good overview.
A 1/75 93-97
B&HHC 2/75 97-99
RS 3,4&5-95

This mighty soldier on the eve of the war he waged
Told his troops of lessons learned from battles fought.
"May your heart grow bolder like an iron-clad brigade"
Said this leader to his outnumbered lot.

Sergeant Larsen was a hell of a good trainer. Best training I've ever done.

When he came to 3rd Plt. C Co. 2/75 in 1995 he told everyone that one day he was going to run the combatives program for the Army.

Response by everyone..............."Yeah, Roger Sarnt".

Then he goes and does it. What's up with that?

First time I met the man was in RIP.

There I am, a young RIPie with a black belt in karate and a fair amount of training in judo, kenpo and kung fu. I'm thinking, "I can take this guy."

Then he kicks the shit out of me.

One of the coolest parts in RIP for me.

Far as I know he still wears glasses. He was wearing them as he was teaching my class in....summer 04.

Cool guy though. Definately knows his shit.

Cool. It'd be interesting to see that.

I should try to go back there sometime and get some video footage. Would be great for a music video.

Course I have no idea how successful I'd be getting on post...

Benning shouldn't give you too much shit. You'd definately need a vistor's pass if you don't still have your ID, though.

Last I knew, the visitor's center wasn't located anywhere near the I-5 gate, though.

I'm not sure how the process goes really. I do still have my ID, which was how I got onto Knox recently (just kinda covered up the experiation date on it with my finger), but sooner or later they'll change the ID card again. You know they will.

Think visitors passes are available via the post website?

No visitor passes are not availiable on the website. There are two visitor centers now. One on Benning Rd gate and one at the I-185 gate.
